Greetings from Cape Town - Dec 2011

Every season teams often have to replenish their team kit, as a result of players growing or a change in team sponsor. Last year KHFC donated a large amount of old kit, including clothing, boots and balls to the Joshua Children’s Mission in Cape Town which was gratefully received by the local soccer team.

End of Season Fun Day – May 15th 2011

After a great season, the Kings Hill Football Club celebrated the end of the footballing season with their usual Fun Day event which included mini tournaments, raffle, barbecue and the all-important trophies for each player.

The Club is fortunate to have many sponsors, one of which is Kings Hill developer Liberty Property Trust UK Ltd and Managing Director Andrew Blevins was on hand to present two annual awards.

The Achievement Cup went to the Under 9’s FC team for coming second in their division and runner up in the league cup final – a great achievement for their first year in competitive football.

The Endeavour Shield was awarded to the Under 16’s for showing great spirit after an unsuccessful season last year, players and coaches have showed great effort all round. They will become our U18’s team next season.

Recycling Football Kit - Joshua Childrens Mission - Feb 2011

As we all know Kings Hill is a very privileged club with regard to all the sponsorship it gets. With this in mind we thought it would be a really nice idea to re cycle our old kits, and form a link with somewhere less fortunate than ourselves.

The Joshua Childrens Mission in South Africa is just such a place. It has been set up and is run by an English couple who basically gave up their lives here to do this. For full details about the mission and what is does please check out their website www.jcmission.org . we have a contact for the mission (Jennifer) and they would love any kit that is available to go out there. I think you will all agree this could be lovely to see some of our football clubs kit being put to fantastic use rather than hiding un used in wardrobes! Once it has arrived I am sure we will get lots of pics so our boys and girls will be able to appreciate where it has gone.

Anne-Marie and Nicky will act as collecting points. Could parents give kit to their team's manager who will pass it on to us. We are after..... shirts shorts socks boots shin pads etc... anything you think would be used.

Thanks so much for your support in this and lets really get together as much as we can.

As a benchmark for quality the award will improve the playing experience for all.

Club Trip To Wembley – u21's England v Portugal - November 2009

At 9am on Saturday 14th November 2009 four coaches filled quickly with 200 excited players and parents of the club to be whisked off to Wembley to witness the Under 21 Euro Championship qualifying game between England and Portugal. For many of the players, and parents, this was their first visit to the most famous football stadium in the world. With the offer of concessions by the FA in view of the club’s application to FA Charter Status, we were able to offer a great value day out.

As we neared the stadium and the view of the famous Wembley Arch came into view the excitement reached fever pitch. Soon we were in the ground, all together in a large block of seats creating a great atmosphere and sense of unity for all at the club. Flags were waved, hot dogs were eaten, and the boys cheered as the game kicked off.

England were soon in the ascendency with Carroll of Newcastle going close on 2 occasions before flicking on for Danny Rose of Spurs to convert five minutes before half time. Carroll again was the danger man after the restart but England could not extend their lead and the game finished 1-0.

Smiles were abundant as we journeyed home before many of us reflected on a great day for the club over a pint or two at the Spitfire!

KHFC First Annual Golf Day 2009

On Saturday 8th August 2009 KHFC held its first annual golf day with 28 players taking part. The day started at 12.30pm with a drink or two before the team spirit got into play with tee offs from 1.00pm to 2.00pm.

The format of the day was for each team in the football club to have a four ball competing in the competition, and very much the theme of the day was team spirits (and sprit in its many forms!)

The four ball representing the Under 6’s won the yellow ball team challenge and the Under 9’s four ball won the overall team prize. There were some individual prizes with Nigel Warmington winning the top stableford score and Andy Alford winning the nearest the pin prize.

The day came to a conclusion with a BBQ at the Golf Club with partners and children joining the players. During the evening a quiz was held with trivia across Kings Hill, Football and Golf.

It was a most enjoyable day and the first of many!!
